A Doggie’s New Year Resolutions for 2019

New Year Resolution

Happy new year! It’s February, but as they say, it’s better late than never. Yes, like our humans, we dogs make New Year resolutions. Here’s what I’m planning to do in 2019!

Adhere to My Resolution

Yes, we have a little trouble following our resolutions, just like humans. However, I will add that in this area, our people can help us just like the caregivers in Puppy Paws Hotel and Spa, my favorite dog daycare in Edmond, OK.

Weight Loss

When it comes to weight loss, we dogs depend on our people to help us with it. If you also think your dog needs to lose some weight in 2019, you can help him by giving a little less food and reducing treats.

Work out

More exercise will help me keep a healthy weight and yes, this needs my humans to take me on a walk every day. It is also good for my humans. After all, they also have the same resolution!

Make More Friends

In Puppy Paws Hotel and Spa, where I like to stay for the day, I have lots of friends. I never feel bored when I make new friends. It makes me happier when new friends join the pack in my dog daycare in Edmond, OK. I like to welcome them and play with my ropes. My humans who are reading this can help me stick to my 4th resolution by letting their dogs come to daycare too!

Fetch More Balls

I love playing with my humans! ‘Fetching the ball’ is my favorite game. If you bring me more balls, I will be able to stay healthy while having fun!

Naps

My humans love to sleep and so do I. Moreover, both of us have hectic schedules every day, and thus, we deserve more naps.

Hike

I love to accompany my human in traveling and hiking. At my daycare, we get to play in a big yard outside. Therefore, my last 7th resolution is to hike more.

Winter Safety For Your Dog

When the cold outside makes you uncomfortable, your pet dog will also feel the same way. Therefore, it is imperative to protect your dog giving it winter clothes to keep it warm. Try booties to protect paws from snow, ice, and road salt. You must keep your pet away from antifreeze. There are so many concerns to follow in winter for your pet. How to Help Your Dog Become More Social

A Puppy

According to behavioral characteristics, all humans are unique and so are your dogs. Depending on the breed, the dogs spontaneous nature is mainly decided. This is the reason why some dogs are friendly and others are timid and shy. However, besides their genetic characteristics, the personality of a dog is influenced by their surroundings and experiences. To foster healthy habits and good socialization skills, it is important to make them socialize from the very early days.

Their training period starts from as early as three weeks of age. During this period, puppies acquire information about their surroundings. If they are not socialized from this age, they are most likely going to be anxious and aggressive later. Keeping a dog in daycare in Edmond, OK, can help to grow their socialization skills.

  • When a dog is doubtful about its surroundings, they can become stressed and anxious. These feelings can later make them aggressive towards others. If the dog is not socialized, they will not enjoy a dog park or similar environments and parents can become stressed as well. There can also be an inaccurate diagnosis if this kind of dog is taken to the vet, due to fear and an elevated heart rate. It is for the dogs own good, and their surroundings as well, to learn good behaviors and socialization. They will then be happy to learn new things and dog parents should utilize this. Making them aware of rules, limitations and boundaries is important for their healthy habits. A treat and showing affection for good behavior can help in this case.

Dog Daycare

  • When your pup is young, it should be taken to a dog daycare in Edmond, OK. Spending time with other dogs and pups can make them friendly and learn all of the dog etiquettes. While playing, they will also learn how much strength they can use in a bite to not hurt others. As verbal communication is not possible, energy and body language is very much important.
  • Even after the puppy phase, the behavior of the dogs may change. It is a good idea carry treats with you when taking them for a walk. Give them treats when others approach them and interact with them. Meeting new people, being good to them and getting a treat for it, will remove their anxiety and discomfort when interacting with other people and dogs.

How your dog will behave, mostly depends on your behavioral training and experiences. If you don’t have enough time to let them learn it from you, take them to a dog daycare in Edmond, OK,  to learn all of these in a friendly manner. Puppy Paws Salon and Spa makes sure that your dog can interact with other dogs and develop healthy habits.
